Onyx Chladilová's artistic mission is to explore the concept of hope in a society on the verge of collapse. Onyx is a Czech visual artist with a degree from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, currently residing in Berlin. Her Slavic upbringing inspires her practice with pagan mythology and a deep connection to nature, while her academic background and Berlin residency inform her narratives with research in human psychology.

The artist mainly works with photography, video art, performance, and installation to create a temporary daydream and a sense of utopia. In her visuals, the empty, vast landscapes are met with bright anti-silhouettes that serve as a juxtaposition of resignation and resilience.

As a feminist visual artist, she aims to highlight the urgency of the mental health crisis of Gen Z and young millennials, the increasing loneliness, existential dread, and future anxiety. In a world stripped of any remaining trust in the current systems and authorities, she asks: 

"Is a healed society yet another utopia?"
