ROLF SCHULENBURG & NOMI WINEBAR

Rolf Schulenberg — Solo Exhibition

POLLAKS presents a solo exhibition by Berlin-based painter Rolf Schulenberg at NOMI Winebar.

Rolf Schulenberg’s paintings emerge from an ongoing exploration of memory, belonging, impermanence, spirituality, and transformation. His practice is shaped by a wide range of experiences and disciplines, including illustration, life drawing, graffiti, stained glass, and tattooing. These influences come together in a distinctive visual language that moves freely between figurative painting, symbolism, humour, and intuitive gesture.

Rather than pursuing a polished or fixed aesthetic, Schulenberg approaches painting as a way of looking at the contradictions of lived experience. His works bring together the beautiful and the grotesque, the joyful and the painful, often using playful imagery to address questions of consciousness, time, faith, and the fragile cycles of decay and renewal. Beneath the darker elements of his work runs a subtle sense of hope.

The exhibition presents a selection of Schulenberg’s recent paintings, including A Room, Brother T, Lone Ranger, Midnight Shopper, Mini Mart Riders, No Bad Weather, Parking Around Back, Visitation, and Visitation II. Created in mixed media and acrylic on canvas, the works vary in scale and immerse the viewer in the artist’s expressive and symbolic world. POLLAKS

Presented at NOMI Winebar, the exhibition brings contemporary painting into an intimate social setting, creating a space where art, conversation, and everyday encounters can exist alongside one another.
